Launch day has arrived for New World: Aeternum, marking a reboot of the game on PC and debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There’s a new welcome letter from Game Director Scot Lane to mark the launch (and a few launch issues to be patient with).

Lane welcomes everyone across platforms to New World: Aeternum, talking about the new features to discover ahead, the new endgame content, and even a little hint about future plans, now that the big launch has happened. The Amazon team worked for the better part of a year to streamline the game into this new phase, according to Lane, There’s new content, more endgame content, the game’s first-ever raid, Hive of Gorgons, readily available free for all PvP, cross-play, and revamped story.

“So with that, we are extremely excited to embark on this journey together. Launch is just the starting point and we have big plans for where we want to go next. We will continue to listen and use your feedback to inform our future updates,” he says.

The game began unlocking across regions starting at 12am PT, with Europe and AP Southeast, followed by the servers in the Americas at 6am PT/ 9am ET. As it is a launch day, there have been a few hiccups, which the Amazon team is working on. Right away, an error 350 meant that some Xbox players weren't able to log into the game but the team rolled out a quick fix.

Another issue affected gear upgrades. For some, attempting to upgrade Artifacts to gearscore 725 wasn't working properly. Amazon quickly disabled those crafting recipes and made plans to reimburse crafting materials in the next few days while they work on the issue. Later, they noted that 700 to 725 gear upgrades were affected, so they’ve also turned those upgrades off for now.

If anyone has been a New World player since the original PC launch, these issues are similar but also a lot more minor and the team is addressing them very quickly. We can't discount the help that open beta (and console beta before it)had in getting things sorted for the final launch build.
