New World: Aeternum developer Amazon Games has revealed details of its upcoming Hive of Gorgons raid for the title.
The Hive of Gorgons is the first 10-player raid in New World and is currently scheduled to launch alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game on October 15.
The raid will have three different chapters, with each of them containing a “section of enemies, a puzzle or action sequence, and a boss”. The developer has also increased the maximum gear score to 725, while also adding three new perks, one for each of the weapons, armor, and accessories perk trees that can only be unlocked through the Hive of Gorgons raid.
Several epic-level bosses are also available in the raid with one in particular, Echidna, containing “more verticality” than any other boss currently available in the game.
In an interview with MMORPG.com, game director Scot Lane spoke candidly about the fact that New World: Aeternum has shifted genres and become something very different to what it was when it first released. With the upcoming release of Hive of Gorgons, the game shifts again, with player progression changing slightly to avoid situations where one player is markedly more powerful than the other.
