As the team promised in a recent info stream, there’s more info about the upcoming Cyrodiil Champions test in The Elder Scrolls Online. The team covered how to get involved in the test, what the team is hoping to learn and achieve, how this test might impact PVP overall, and more.

Answers came in the form of a written PVP Q&A after the community had a chance to submit questions. The Q&A we got today is just about the upcoming Cyrodil Champions test, but there will be a longer general PvP Q&A to follow later in the month. If you haven't checked out the Update 45 PTS, it’s a good idea to do that, since parts of this Q&A will make more sense.

The Cyrodiil Champions test, with the campaign name Vengeance, is currently scheduled to run for one week at the end of March. It will be available on PC in North America and Europe. On all servers, there will be a PvP-centric Golden Pursuits campaign so you can still go and PvP and earn yourself some rewards.

The ESO team's goal in this first test with a limited series of options is “to prove out if the complexity of abilities is a core problem performance-wise”. This comes after they have tested a number of things like CP or no CP, group healing, population or target caps, and even hardware variation, so this is the next step in PvP improvement.

This particular campaign will run as-is with the build that’s on the PTS. This isn’t a full feature, since the plan looks to be to add and change and test more and more over time as they continue to refine what the feature will become.

Since it's a short test, and they have turned off a lot of things like inventory, progression, most skill lines, and stat changes) the purpose is to test with their main goal in mind and get the data as soon as possible. Look towards future scheduled tests for updates and configurations.

“If things go well during the test, that will inform our plans going forward with Cyrodiil in the future. Any changes to Cyrodiil that follow this test will require A LOT of work to get to a full feature, though,” they say. Patience will be necessary.

There are a number of other questions,  that you can head over to the full Q&A to check out.
