We’re targeting late June for the launch of the Summer Update and we’re really excited about the new Assault, Capture, Defend (ACD) game mode that headlines the changes. ACD is an objective based game mode where two teams fight to capture the “Core.” The Core appears at random points throughout the map and has a 45-second cooldown before it can be captured. This gives both teams a chance to position for the assault. The Core is captured in a manner similar to capturing a zone in the Capture the Zone game mode. A player has to stand close to the Core to capture it, and more players standing close to it capture it faster. If players from both teams are standing in the capture zone, one team must be killed or forced out of the zone for the other team to capture it. Once captured, the team starts scoring points. In a big shift from current game modes, the defenders don’t respawn immediately after death, allowing the assaulting team to clear out the defenders, then “release” the Core. The core is released exactly like it is captured. Once released, the capturing team stops scoring points and the Core respawns in another random location, the capturing team respawns and the Assault, Capture, Defend process begins again with the 45-second cooldown.
