Jagex continues with planned Skilling level cap increases in RuneScape this week, raising the cap on Woodcutting and Fletching (including Firemaking) to 110, with new options.

This follows the initial Mining and Smithing update, and works similarly in that there are new opportunities and mechanics to experience and master. However, the team notes that they worked with the community after that update to refine their approach this time around. “Drawing from lessons learned with Mining & Smithing, we’ve blended your ideas with a focus on your wants and needs.”

Due to this update there is a new tree - the Eternal Magic Tree. If you are leveling up Woodcutting, at level 100 you unlock the ability to chop these trees. You'll find them in a clearing that is located north of Eagle’s Peak. Woodcutting’s mechanics also get an overhaul based on feedback. You won’t have to compete over the new trees, and they will fall at predictable times thanks to tree timers. Other tweaks are also intended to contribute to a more consistent experience.

Look out for Enchanted birds’ nests in those trees, as they feature some upgraded loot.

Aso, if you have level 100 Smithing, you can craft the new Primal Hatchet, a handy level 100 tool for all trees.

Fletching also gets the new level cap and some overhauls. Eternal Magic wood is going to play a part. At level 100 you can create shortbows and Primal arrows using that wood. Eternal Magic items also get updated skilling mechanics to be more varied, improvements to reduce repetitive grind, and an overhaul that tilts XP gain to weapon creation over ammo. Fletching workbenches also arrive and with new systems to learn, including ways to increase the yield on ammunition crafting.

Then there’s Fletching, Firemaking, and Construction, which are all connected through the use of logs. Full details on all the new mechanics are in a new devblog about the skilling changes, which is out now.
