For those who have ever wanted to capture a moment in real-time during a match only to realize that their recording software isn’t open, Valve has implemented Steam’s new game recording software which might just be the savior of your content for those moments.
The new Game Recording feature is in Beta, but it boasts the ability to capture highlights and document entire campaigns all from their new software. The Background Recording mode will save gameplay nonstop, while the Replay feature is for those near misses where someone may have forgotten to hit the record button. Replay will jump back in time to ensure we never miss a major moment during gameplay and is accessible in the Steam Overlay for every game on the platform.
This tool is basically an editor and recording software all in one, as it allows players to drop pins in real-time in order to capture major moments while recording to turn into highlights or clips later, as well as built-in proactive software that automatically will drop pins during major events. There are also game mode indicators that show whether players are in the Lobby waiting, on the Menu screen, or actively playing their game of choice. For more information or any questions related to game recording, you can head over to their FAQ's and see if they've already answered your questions.
