Blizzard is preparing for the launch of Wrath of the Lich King Classic and expanding World of Warcraft Classic’s progression. Since there will be some following from The Burning Crusade, but others might want a fresh start, and that’s exactly what has been announced: fresh start realms from day one. Starting on an even level with everyone else around might be what some need in order to feel like they’re getting a more balanced experience.
Those who want to go into Wrath of the Lich King fresh will start on launch day and the game will have everything from talent trees and player abilities that come with the update, but you'll level into all of the content. There are also some rules that apply to those who decide to roll on a fresh start server. Since this is a fresh start, there will be no boosting allowed or character transfers to the fresh start realms for at least 90 days after launch. For those looking to create a Death Knight, you’ll have to reach level 55 first. Other than that, they’re looking to create an opportunity for those who might want to join in but would otherwise feel left behind to start at level 1 alongside everyone else playing on the same servers.
There will be several phases in the run up to the launch of the next phase of Classic, some of which are already in effect.
As a reminder, this is one of several steps we’re taking over the next few months to prepare for Wrath Classic:
PvE to PvP transfer restrictions removed*
Wrath Classic closed beta test
Classic Era clone service retired
Existing realms consolidated**
New Fresh Start Realms with Wrath Classic pre-patch
Wrath of the Lich King launch
