Square Enix was in attendance at the 2024 Taipei Game Show to showcase Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and there were a number of interesting details to share from the event.
Rebirth will feature a new story for Costa Del Sol that was not part of the original game with the intention of serving as an interlude for the game’s otherwise serious narrative.
The choices you make throughout the game will affect how your companions perceive you. Even who you bring along during sidequests or into battle will affect your affinity score with your companions. Cutscenes will play out differently depending on your companion scores and this includes who Cloud will take on his date at the Gold Saucer as well as which companions will star in the Loveless musical. You won’t have to fully replay the game to see how other variations play out as it’s possible to replay chapters and make different choices.
Gold Feathers can be used to redeem equipment for your chocobo to improve their performance in Chocobo Races. Yes, chocobo racing is back and Square Enix showed a brief clip of it at the show.
Summons are largely similar in functionality to how they worked in FFVII: Remake, however, this time it’s possible to upgrade their materia via Chadley.
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirh arrives on the PlayStation 5 on February 29.
