New Elder Scrolls Online Lore Entry Poses Intriguing Questions About Malacath and Maelstrom

The Elder Scrolls Online has a new lore dive to get everyone ready for Scions of Ithelia’s release on March 11th. This time, Demiprince Fa-Nuit-Hen and the Daedric Prince Malacath get a spotlight in the same feature.

ZeniMax has already been telling everyone to go and play through Orsinium if you haven’t already, since that DLC is very connected to what you'll find in Scions of Ithelia. They’re even reinforcing that advice by giving the DLC away for free as a reward for logging in just twice this month. Now, a new lore letter, told in the words of one Madame Whim, Daedric entrepreneur, sheds some more light on these two figures.

We’ve been introduced to Fa-Nuit-Hen, and you’ll help them out in Bedlam Veil dungeon. In questioning who Fa-Nuit-Hen’s parents might have been, and what their name means, there are some interesting responses from our narrator, if you read between the lines of these lore entries.

“These interpretations, along with other conversations I’ve had over the centuries, lead me to believe that Fa-Nuit-Hen’s origins are far older and far odder than they let on.” And later, “If you look back through recorded history, you’ll find several instances of Daedric Princes adopting beings as scions, even if the creatia of their own realm was not involved”.

As for Malacath, who you’ll encounter in Oathsworn Pit, there is a question about his greatsword, and if it has something to do with Pentinent. Another intriguing question, though, is closer to the end of the entry: “Can a lesser Daedra eventually rival or even become a Daedric Prince?” And the response is not there by accident:

“As far as I am aware, the raw power of a Daedric Prince is unmatchable by even the mightiest Daedric Lord or Demiprince. My no is conditional because truthfully, I am not sure it’s out of the question."
