When Final Fantasy XIV is updated to v4.3 in the near future, there will be some significant changes coming to The Culling. In a new developer diary on the Lodestone, readers are provided with a brief look at how things will be shaken up for PvP players starting right off the bat with a layout redesign.
Besides redesigning the field of battle, players will also notice that the "BGM for The Culling has been changed" to give players more of a sense of urgency.
Additionally, a number of changes have been made to the HUD to provide players with more information about teammates and opponents including HP / MP, buffs / debuffs, Adrenaline Rush status, a clickable interface to target enemies and allies and the addition of text commands.
Other changes:
- Custom Match mode
- Custom Match party finder update for spectators
- Training changed from 1 to 2 players to bring along a friend "who is hesitant to give PvP a try"
- Changes to the rating system (read more here)
- Daily challenges
- Adjustments to the Borderland Ruins: "In accordance with the new daily challenge, we will make adjustments to Borderland Ruins (Secure). We have reduced the size of the map to reduce the time it takes to rush through the battlefield to increase the number of encounters. Since Borderland Ruins (Secure) is the oldest Frontlines campaign, there may be some players who haven't tried it out."
