The Outer Brood,  the 31st EverQuest expansion, preorders have opened, and with them, more details about the features, and beta access.

The expansion hub is available with all pre-order details, the various options, and some of what you can check out in beta right now. The expansion will  once again bring a mysterious threat to Norrath,  massive beasts that look like dragons but are not the kinds everyone is familiar with. They are huge, claude, with fangs and, perhaps most importantly and the biggest danger, are wielding a new unfamiliar magic. Even the oldest dragons aren't familiar with these new creatures, who speak a form of Elder Dragon. That’s just the beginning, since of course it is, and you’ll have to join with others to save the world. An assault is coming “to cleanse the world of what their herald calls "A clear failure to follow scripture”.

For pre-orders, there are four additions to choose from: Standard ($34.99), Collector’s ($69.99), Premium($139.99), and Family & Friends ($249.99). All preorders come with beta access and the Azure Scalewrought Weapon Ornament. There are a number of other bonuses, including tradable items, with the different preorder levels.

Beta will let you explore the six new expansion zones, which include “a leviathan so large that dragons built a castle on top of it”. You'll also gain access to the expansions raids, quests, new collections, new missions, spells, compatibilities, and much more. For the first time in this expansion, you can make a Dark Elf Ranger, and this race/class combination is in beta to test out now.

For participation in beta, you’ll also get to show off (sort of) in a new Paper Bag Hat ornament. For those days adventuring in North when you haven't really had the time to fix yourself up before you had to head out the door.
