The latest Sea of Thieves Developer Update is out in the wild, this time covering a new event that will be sailing into the game in the near future. Black Powder Stashes are somewhat similar to Reaper's Run adventures and will, according to Joe Neate, bring new "social dynamics and behavior". Black Powder Stashes are currently on the Insider Build for testing prior to deployment on July 17th.
In addition, some changes are incoming to The Arena, the PvP pseudo battle royale, that includes allowing players to use ships with different numbers of crew members. Currently, The Arena only supports 4-player galleons, but devs are looking to see how 2-player sloops and 3-player brigantines can fit in. There will be a testing mode using the new ships running all weekend for those who want to check out potential changes. Those who take part will earn doubloons.
