With Cryptic Studios one of the most recent to see layoffs and employee departures, the Neverwinter team are reassuring the community that the future of the game is solid.
The announcement, titled “A Message From the Neverwinter Team”, says that the team has been listening to feedback received as well as acknowledging concerns amid the challenge of “recent changes within our team”, with the layoffs and transition of development duties mostly over to Deca Games. While those changes have happened, they’re reinforcing their commitment to ongoing development and give a glimpse of what’s already coming and in the works for the game.
This begins with Module 30, which they say is “just around the corner”. Expect new story content, new features, and a number of improvements. Modules 31 and 32 are already in stages of development. We'll get details on those sometime early next year, but they did drop a few hints.
“They will take you on thrilling adventures across a mysterious and wondrous region we’ve yet to explore in east Faerûn,” is one of those hints. The other? “Get ready for captivating stories and challenges as you delve deeper into a new region adventurers have been wanting to explore for years!” Let the guessing begin.
Whether or not they’ve smoothed over the concerns they’re addressing are yet to be seen, but it is clear that there’s much more Neverwinter in the works. So far, the teams at Cryptic’s other titles haven’t commented on their futures like this (yet?), but we’ll see if those come our way.
