Neverwinter’s Mountain of Flame module is out today on PC and console. This major update brings back an overhauled Mount Hotenow zone, a new twist on a classic dungeon, new rewards, new story, and much more.
Mount Hotenow is threatening to erupt and there’s more going on than meets the eye. So, of course, you get the chance to investigate and work to stop the fire giant Gommoth from completing a ritual using the magma to free and wake the Primordial that sleeps in the mountain. You'll join forces with a dwarven expedition to halt the ritual and defeat Gommoth.
The zone of Mount Hotenow itself, which was introduced when Neverwinter launched back in 2013, has been overhauled. It is the center of the module, after all, so expect new things to do, and the zone itself has been repopulated. Gommoth’s forces are all over to try and stop you and to keep you busy. Expect fire archons, cultists, and more fiery enemies to face down. If you are a Neverwinter veteran, you'll notice both the changes related to The Narrative of the module but also a number of visual and layout changes to the original Adventure zone.
What also awaits you is a reimagined version of the classic dungeon, “Lair of the Mad Dragon”. That's right, the dragon Chartilifax has had its mind warped by the prophet Rohini, and cultists are searching for the Hex Locus, the artifact the dragon guards. The artifact can warp a being’s very nature and destroy realities. So the dragon, being afflicted, is a worthy guardian that won't hesitate to eat you if you try to get that artifact.
All the monsters and bosses have been completely reworked and you'll have to not only face the Dragon you'll have to face down Rohini’s forces. Challenge the dungeon in normal, advanced, or Master difficulty, with unique rewards on each difficulty tier.
Mountain of flame also includes a number of quality of life changes, including updates to guild management and some companion updates to Siege Master, Celeste and Mako. There's also a brand new Battle Pass that you can progress through. For the premium Battle Pass, one of the rewards is a new companion, Eric the Cavalier, originally introduced in the 1983 Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series.
