Variety is reporting that Kabam Inc. has sold most of its assets to Korean gaming giant, Netmarble, including the Vancouver studio currently behind the juggernaut mobile title, Marvel Contest of Champions. The purchase will become complete in January 2017.

The sale of the majority of Kabam's assets does not include, however, studios in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Beijing. These will be sold off after the completion of the current arrangement with Netmarble.

Upcoming Kabam Vancouver releases include “Transformers: Forged to Fight,” slated to bow worldwide in the second quarter of 2017, under a pact with Hasbro. That’s timed to hit around the release of Michael Bay’s “Transformers: The Last Knight,” set to premiere June 23, 2017, the first of three additional “Transformers” movies greenlit by Paramount Pictures.
