Netmarble is releasing a stock IPO (initial public offering) to raise as much as $2.4B with over half of it used to complete deals and acquisitions. This is big news for mobile MMO / RPG fans as Netmarble has been integral in the development and publication of a number of titles including the recently-released Icarus M.
The plan is to sell seventeen million shares of the company's stock to fund "aggressive global expansion in the highly competitive market".
Netmarble’s global profile has risen in recent months with its latest title, Lineage 2: Revolution, based on NCSoft’s online blockbuster, becoming the world’s second-highest grossing mobile game. It raked in more than Won200bn in sales in the first month after its December release in South Korea.
