World of Warcraft Classic’s Season of Mastery continues, this time with the release of Naxxramas, which is now live. With the Season of Mastery, though, expect a few changes from the original to match the idea of an accelerated fresh start that’s still looking to challenge even veterans some approach.
Kel’Thuzad might be a name you haven’t heard in a while, but the official description should jog your memory.
“Floating above the Plaguelands, the necropolis known as Naxxramas serves as the seat of one of the Lich King’s most powerful officers, the dreaded lich Kel’Thuzad. Horrors of the past and new terrors yet to be unleashed are gathering inside the necropolis as the Lich King’s servants prepare their assault. The Scourge marches again…”
With Wrath of the Lich King Classic coming in just two months, on September 26th, now is the perfect time to reacquaint yourself with Naxxramas.
Some of the changes in this version include a new quest from Archmage Tarsis Kir-Moldir early on, and some artifacts within the necropolis that could impact challenges ahead, positively or negatively. Some artifacts will help you and others will strengthen the enemies you face. At least the added challenges also come with rewards.
To enter, you’ll have to become Attuned by gaining Honored status with the group Argent Dawn and complete a special quest.
Once you enter Naxxramas, the 15 bosses across four of the separate themed wings await you. If it has been a while, you’ll fight through the Abomination Wing, full of created and undead creatures, the Deathknight Wing, featuring the Lich King’s loyal soldiers, Plague Wing, with undead plague enemies, and the Spider Wing, which needs no explanation. Finally, you get to the center and the Frostwyrm Lair, and a chance to ultimately take on Kel’Thuzad.
Eventually, Season of Mastery characters will be able to transfer over to Wrath Classic, so you can consider this some practice for now until that next expansion arrives in the general WoW Classic release.
