MultiVersus is officially launching on May 28th, and WB is preparing for the crossover multiplayer platform fighting game’s first season with a new trailer highlighting the return of Mark Hamill as the Joker.
In the "Send in the Clowns!" gameplay trailer, Batman’s computer has been compromised, and things are going a little awry. We then see some character files get a little vandalized with familiar purple and green scrawls, followed by some clips of Batman saying things like “I admire The Joker” and how much he hates justice, before the scrawls turn into HA HA HAs.
WB recently unveiled The Joker as part of the lineup, but the gameplay trailer gives a peek at some of the tricks he can pull out there when facing characters like Superman, LeBron James, Bugs Bunny, Gizmo and Stripe from Gremlins, The Iron Giant, and Wonder Woman. We see clips of Joker fighting before we see Harley Quinn, and they greet each other. With Harley already having been announced, and Batman part of the lineup, Joker’s addition isn’t surprising, but it gets an extra fun touch with Hamill returning to his iconic voice role.
After shutting down its open beta last year and promising an overhaul and an official launch this year, the MultiVersus social media accounts came back to life not long ago with the announcement of the May 28th launch. With WB having come off a rough quarter, mostly blamed on the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which led to a costly $200 million loss, MultiVersus could offer a potential bright spot for the company as it tosses all sorts of characters from owned IP into the fray.
