Console Mass Effect Andromeda fans had been looking forward to a promised technical test of the game's multiplayer. That isn't going to happen, however, as Bioware has announced that it's a "long story but right decision for how close we are to going live".

Producer Fernando Melo also added that multiplayer has indeed been tested extensively on consoles,  most recently in a closed alpha test on retail consoles.

While the technical alpha won't be present, attendees at PAX East will be able to give it a go as well as EA/Origin Access members nearly a week ahead of its retail launch on March 21st.

In another tidbit of information, multiplayer will allow for playable alien races as it did in Mass Effect 3. Melo teased an image of the character select screen and promised that more multiplayer news will be coming soon.

Meanwhile, we'll get some more MP info out - let's get the ball rolling... see you all soon in Andromeda! 4/4 pic.twitter.com/FuhGpuat9f
