As the Crowfall fundraising initiative approaches the $1.3M goal for adding mounts and caravans to the game, the Artcraft team has released an FAQ to detail how the feature will work in the game.
Mounts will be obtained either through a magical item that summons a mount from inventory or by taming one in the wild after learning a skill that allows for such to happen. Players will have to have a certain amount of skill at taming / riding for creatures. In fact, to keep a mount tamed, players will need to raise their riding level with the additional benefit of being able to tame higher level creatures and so on.
In addition to mounts, players will be able to tame beasts of burden, pack animals in a sense. Pack animals will also have their own separate inventory.
Mounts will take damage, will attack if the master is attacked and can die. Mount figurines (inventory items) are also subject to the campaign loot rules so a player dying can potentially lose mounts carried along. This can also apply to KickStarter mounts which can be lost, but their appearance will be able to be recovered.
