Mortal Online 2’s latest sprint patch PTR is now open. This update features a lot of backend improvements, bug fixes and technical changes, but there are a few additions as well beyond all of the optimization. Try riding some bush pigs.
The PTR is now live. Since this is such a technical heavy update that affects a lot of different systems, Star Vault is still looking for robust testing. The PTR is set to be open until on Monday, offering a chance to log in, see how things feel and look, and importantly, how everything functions. Much of the work is going to be invisible, but there are some things you'll notice.
One of the changes in the update is an overhaul of in-game chat. The full patch notes give all the details but there are dozens of changes to chat, including UI tweaks, new settings (including a completely rebuilt chat settings in the first place, as well as more tools to help you interact with players or to mute, report, and get assistance. Beyond chat, the engine gets an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.5.4, FSR and DLSS also get upgraded to new versions. There are also a number of changes besides the engine upgrades to client performance, including a change to how characters are calculated to improve overall performance. This should be more noticeable when there are a bunch of players on screen.
The team is also updating and rebuilding the AI attack code, with an intention of making the AI more responsive and smarter when they react and fight back. Other gameplay improvements include a ton of magic spell balance adjustments, principally to lessen the effective RNG while casting. This test will help the team determine the final values at launch.
And then there were Bush Pigs. Now you can ride them as your mount. They'll also be easier to tame. Taur Dogs also get some balance changes,
