Mortal Online 2 is opening up a new PTR tomorrow to test out the next sprint patch. This one will overhaul the new player experience, add new tasks–foraging and fishing–and related changes.
The new player experience overhaul is the biggest part of the next update, so this is the focus of this next patch. The Star Vault team announced the list of changes to expect, and they include, right from the start, the addition of some build presets to character creation. There will be additional information to some of the skill descriptions, and some skills themselves will be changed to make them more useful for newer players. This might mean merging movement skills into their parent skill to simplify their use.
A few features, like a guild finder that allows players to search and filter guilds by a number of criteria like size, focus, language, and active timezone, are on the way. You can also search within an active region of the map.The map will also display found locations for better orientation.
The Haven tutorials are also getting remade, with a new starting location. Completing them will also be more linear to get players started. Haven will also get improvements to the PvE experience, with the addition of new PvE challenges and some updates to things like existing dungeons and larger POIs to work with the changes. Task systems will also be integrated into Haven and the updated tutorial.
Speaking of tasks, foraging and fishing are coming, likely both in this next update. Foraging will have you gather herbs and resources out in Myrland. Fishing is, well, fishing, and your tasks will include what kinds of fish and how many, but you’ll have to figure out the best way to catch them, the best bait, and more.
PTR will be up for a few days, and the patch also includes a new mount, quality of life changes, and bug fixes.
