Mortal Online 2 has been working towards additional updates, and one of the ones promised has been the Territory Control update. This feature is finally getting close after more than a year of work on all aspects of the game.
Initially, updates to the Territory Control system were intended to happen shortly after release last year. Because Mortal Online 2’s launch was plagued by some broken systems, instability, and people getting stuck, the team had to adjust and use their full capacity to get things rolling again. The first year in review devblog that Star Vault shared back in January notes that:
“We chose to delay the release of these new mechanics so we could be sure that by the time they’re ready, our server infrastructure would be as well, supporting hundreds of players in a single battle”.
Over the past several months, there have been some significant updates, including the promised new dynamic weather system, and the new magic school, Elementalism. The team also held several playtests where they tested the stability of yes, having a few hundred players in battle, to see how things held. Now it looks like we’re well on our way to seeing this Territory Control update.
In his latest Mortal Online 2 stream, Henrik Nyström showed off a look of the structures that you'll be able to place and build. These structures will work similarly to how player housing works, where each of these buildings will have upgradable tiers.
When you make upgrades, the structures will change in their appearance, adding additional features as well as unlocking different functionality or bonuses. When the update is available, this will give greater control for players who want to enhance their experience by doing things like building towns.
Star Vault is planning a special stream with all things Territory Control, including a deep dive into the patch and info on the claims process. There’s no date for this just yet, but you can find out more over at Mortal Online 2.
