NetherRealm Studios and WB Games have released a new trailer showcasing Mortal Kombat 1’s upcoming Khaos Reigns expansion. Khaos Reigns will continue the game’s reboot storyline and add six new playable characters as part of MK1’s Kombat Pack 2.
The central plot of the Khaos Reigns story arc focuses on the threat of an alt universe Titan Havik seeking to make things difficult for the inhabitants of Fire God Liu Kang’s world.
The new cast of characters include a mix of familiar MK faces and unsurprisingly a number of guest characters from iconic pop culture franchises. Players can look forward to the return of Cyrax, Noob Saibot and Sektor, as well as Terminator 2’s T-1000, Conan the Barbarian’s Conan, and Scream’s Ghostface. The returning Mortal Kombat series characters will arrive day and date with the expansion, while the guest characters will be added later on.
Animalities will also make a return in Khaos Reigns, allowing players to transform into a variety of creatures to finish off their opponents in gruesome fashion. This is the first time Animalities have returned since their debut in Mortal Kombat 3 back in 1995.
Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns drops on September 24 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
