The Diablo Immortal team has released a new trailer and more details on “Crucible of Justice”, the next major content update that will set things up for the return of Diablo.
The next chapter in the main storyline, “Crucible of Justice” finds those who’ve recovered the angelic sword El’druin on an all new personal quest to avoid being destroyed by the Worldstone shards within you after shattering. You can't wield the sword, but now, in The Worldstone Quest Part 1, you seek a way to contain the evil within you that will lead to that ultimate eventual confrontation with Diablo himself.
Crucible of Justice will go live globally on September 11th. The update introduces the new Vanguard co-op horde mode. In parties of four, you get an objective and you work to complete it while demons are swirling around.
You can choose the difficulty tier, which will play a part in determining what objective you have to complete, as well as the obstacles that you'll need to overcome together through cooperative gameplay. The two highest difficulty levels for the very brave require taking down a Helliquary Boss. Vanguard even introduces a new progression system with skills that you can only level up by continuing to play Vanguard.
The update will also introduce three new Legendary Gems with unique abilities. A new edition of the Gem Trial event will let you experience these new gems without having to purchase anything just to check them out.
There's a new limited time event, The Festival of the Ancient Moon, to celebrate the mid-autumn festival, running from September 13th through September 27th with daily and weekly tasks to complete to earn yourself a series of rewards. Toll of Virtue is another limited-time event, opening September 11th through September 25th. Here, you’ll find two lists of challenges. The first has repeatable challenges you can do to earn Champions’ Commendations you can exchange for rewards. The second list is full of Vanguard challenges for even more loot (and Battle Pass points).
Two new chapters of the Hero’s Journey are coming for those who’ve completed the Frozen Tundra quests or reached level 55. Additionally, there is a new Tales of Sanctuary tab, with a series of multi-part stories.
The update will also feature several returning events, a series of feature improvements and quality of life changes.
