This Thursday, The Celestial Throne, the first major update for VR MMORPG Zenith: The Last City, goes live. Now, Ramen VR has released patch notes for the upcoming content, giving a peek at just what we can expect from both playable content (like new quests and the addition of dungeons and raids, to quality of life and practical updates.
With a few teases over the last several weeks, the team revealed elements of the next chapter that would finally bring new instanced dungeons and raids, along with matchmaking capability. There are over 20 new quests added to the game, and certain NPCs will offer daily and weekly quests. Two new zones added are the base of the Celestial Throne and the giant floating castle itself. Practical new additions include left-handed controls, new ring-shaped AoE markers, headgear with stats, new armor sets, and a way to improve gear pieces.
There are three new instanced Artifact dungeons and three new raids. You’ll be able to unlock them through things like the new quest content. Dungeons are for four players and raids need eight. They’ll each also have multiple difficulties to keep things interesting (and rewarding). Three overworld Artifact dungeons are also available.
Details for all of the new instances are in the patch notes, and here is one of the nightmarish-sounding instances you’ll be able to experience in VR soon:
The Pillar of the Architect: A testament of Zenithean engineering, this impressive technical construct is now in a state of disrepair. Its crew of robotic workers have long since succumbed to corruption of their AI, becoming something much more lethal than their programming intended.
Once unlocked, you’ll be able to put together your team, or use the new matchmaking tool to set one up. There are the usual daily and weekly dungeon rewards, regardless of how you enter the instance, and this is, of course, the way you'll be able to get the most powerful gear.
There are also rewards for using the matchmaking tool, called roulettes. If you team up randomly with others via roulette, you’ll get additional rewards. Making it easier to find a complete team with incentives for trying out the random matchmaking feature seems like a good way to start.
