The back and forth for ArcheAge 2’s planned release seems to point to more delays, as indicated in Kakao Games’ latest financials.
Kakao Games’ Q2 report showed a massive 89% dip in operating profit year over year, and a 77.2% drop quarter over quarter. Q2 was a rough one, with declining revenue. Revenue was down 13% year over year. In the report they have a schedule of their upcoming releases. Path of Exile 2 is still on target for a Q4 2024 Early Access, and Chrono Odyssey is slated for Q3 2025. Kakao has another cross-platform PC/mobile MMORPG, codenamed Project Q, set for Q3 2025 as well.
The chart places ArcheAge 2 in 2025 fiscal year, widening the potential window. As shared over on the ArcheAge 2 subreddit, in the earnings call, the company said that the earliest possible launch date for the game is at the end of 2025 or early 2026. On a prior earnings call, they announced that they would be heading towards a closed beta test at the end of 2024, but now, that's also coming in 2025.
ArcheAge 2 will have a showcase at Gamescom 2025. They had announced the intention to have an appearance at this year's Gamescom, but with that starting next week, it's obviously not happening.
With Kakao’s financials and the back and another delay, more patience is needed for those who are looking forward to ArcheAge 2 and its blend of MMORPG narrative and story quests and more action-based combat. Although if you have been paying attention and looking forward to the game, patience has been an expectation at this point.
