Monsters and Memories has a new development update, covering September and October. Despite some summer vacations and tours and other assignments, there was significant progress, and the team grew by two.
In the last couple of months, they've worked on new concept art and continue to work on concepts for areas they hadn't done yet, and we see some of what they've been working on in the update. They have new models for the drake, the tarantula, more advanced wood elf armor sets, and MMO history may have been made because “The Perfect Sword was created. We even get a clip of the creation.
The rest of the updates depicted include more animations, and we can see updates in smoother animations depicted. They've also worked on new environmental art, for new areas, added more points of interest, and even a secret area in Night Harbor and a different secret mini dungeon in Night Harbor have been reworked and expanded.
If you’ve been following Monsters and Memories' development so far, then you'll notice some of the improvements that they've gotten in these little updates they're sharing. The devs also worked on a whole bunch of practical content features including additions to crafting, continuing to add to different areas, and adding population and quests to a secret location within Night Harbor. Night Harbor harbors some secrets, clearly. And eventually, we'll get to try to discover them.
While there are a number of the usual screenshots and clips to see, a lot of the update was practical and kind of on the techie side. they've completed converting the UI over to a new framework code that will help them with smoother development, as the new system has more drag and drop components.
Now, they're looking ahead at a potential last playtest this year before the work that has to be done in 2025 to make their planned Early Access in 2026.
