Monsters & Memories has a new development update, recapping the end of a busy 2024, with a look at recent stress tests, new milestones, and a busy 2025 ahead.
The complete devblog goes into a number of the usual updates, giving us some progress on concept art, and you I work, new art, new weapons, new player armor textures, and even more work on characters and NPCs. The Ratman is now wearing gear. you can go through all of the new animations and other animations to see the progress. One thing about this team is that their monthly Recaps do feature a lot of updates and proof of what they've been working on on a consistent basis.
There are even some new sound updates and a new music track. We get videos for new environmental audio clips of Night Harbor, Sandy Crypt, and drowning and inhaling sounds.
The end of 2024 was also a busy one, with two stress tests in the final weeks of the year. For both tests there are a number of stats you can take a look at.
Developers share stats from the 4-hour stress test on November 30th, which attracted 978 player accounts. In 4 hours of actual play time, all logged in players logged 1,450 hours or 60 days, so this should get the developers some pretty good data. The deadliest NPC for players were a jackal, which slew 276 players. The most killed NPC was “a large rat”. Highest level players reached level 5 in just four hours and included at least one hardcore player. This was a short test and race choices were more or less split, with Goblins and Humans making up the top percentages represented.
On December 22nd, they had another test, this time attracting 1,349 people. players could play up to 10 or 11 hours and the highest level player reached level 11 in this test. Two reached level 10.
Monsters & Memories is heading for Early Access in 2026, so these progress updates are meaningful, since this year is set to be another very busy one.
