The Monsters & Memories team has shared a new monthly update to follow their Early Access plans announcement and a full cost breakdown of production so far. The latest dives into the growth of the M&M team, and a new public playtest on the way.
If you have been waiting to get a chance to test out Monsters & Memories, the team has announced the next free playtest will happen at the end of June. While this is still weeks away, they are also planning to have at least one, or possibly more, stress test between now and then. They're also considering that the stress test may happen during one of their streams, so they're encouraging everyone who's interested to sign up for an account and to stay tuned to their social channels.
This update also announces four new team members, including a dev that spent 11 years on EverQuest, and who will help out in design, particularly on systems, a new summer intern, a freelance 3D artist, and a new motion graphics and video pro who made the video retrospective included in the devblog.
The video retrospective is a look at progress the team has made, including stream clips and some animations and designs. There’s some concept art and a lot of placeholder stuff, but there are also some peeks at some more refined stuff in the classic MMO-inspired title. Things are still in development, and the team at Niche Worlds Cult has a list of some of what they’ve made progress on at the end of the blog too.
The team has reiterated its commitment to transparent development, and that also stands in some of the early development process on some of these features too. Among the features and improvements they have made include some class skill adjustments, itemization improvements like increasing storage capacity, new content including several new encounters, adding over 200 NPCs and several named mobs, progression updates, and more
