Today marks a significant milestone for Niantic and Capcom as they unveil their latest creation, Monster Hunter Now. This game, which has garnered over 3 million pre-registrations, promises to bring the thrill of the Monster Hunter franchise to your palms and your city.
Fans of the Monster Hunter series by Capcom should be delighted as the property that has been a global sensation for years will now have its very own Pokemon Go moment. The premise of the game revolves around players, known as hunters, tracking and battling colossal creatures through taps and swipes in this location-based (LoBa) game. The team at Niantic has recently added some new features for this momentous launch by integrating Augmented Reality (AR) technology, allowing players to spot these beasts, and their imposing real world sizes, through the game as they appear in our real world.
For those unfamiliar with Niantic’s previous games, the development team is able to do this through the use of their AR Camera Mode. By turning this feature on, you’ll be able to see and interact with monsters in your immediate surroundings.
Hunters will also be able to participate in group hunts, level up their hunter and weapons, craft new items, and even tag monsters with a paintball to battle them later at their leisure. Ryozo Tsujimoto, the Producer of the Monster Hunter Series at Capcom, expressed his excitement about the game's global release. He emphasized that Monster Hunter Now offers both simplicity for newcomers and depth for long-time fans. Kei Kawai, Niantic’s Chief Product Officer, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the game's balance between accessibility and challenge.
If you’ve been a fan of Niantic’s games in the past, or you’re currently a Monster Hunter fan and you’re looking to go on your next hunting adventure, you can find the game available for download for free on Google’s Play Store and Apples App Store.
