The latest Mondays in MMORPGs has been published on the Saga of Lucimia site and is one that tackles a very relevant topic in gaming today. The main body of the letter centers on what free speech is and how it is commonly misunderstood by many players as regards to the games they play.

After defining the company's overall view of the issue of freedom of speech, the letter wraps up thusly:

We’ve long said that we are going to be going the distance in terms of ensuring that our community remains a positive place. We will be enforcing a naming policy, we will be enforcing a play nice policy, and we are encouraging our community to police themselves. And while in many cases there will be a three-strikes-before-you-are-out policy in place, I can tell you one thing that won’t be tolerated in our game, and that’s racism.

What does that mean? Well, it means that if someone uses the N-word, for example, or says something anti-Semitic, or anti-Asian or anything of that nature, they will be immediately banned.

We live in the twenty-first century. Racism has no place in modern society. It’s one of the major components in player toxicity, and it’s one of the main reasons that so many players get banned in competitive gaming. Just as much as racism and hate crimes are not allowed in the modern world, they will not be allowed in our game.
