Torn Banner Studios has announced that it is shutting down Mirage: Arcane Warfare and removing it from Steam due at least in part due to the EU privacy law, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) that will go into effect on May 25th. While it is possible to upgrade servers to meet the new data protection standards, Gamasutra opines "that many developers are finding that they lack the resources or funds to make their games GDPR compliant & have instead opted to end service".
From the Mirage: Arcane Warfare Steam notice:
Mirage: Arcane Warfare has been removed from sale on Steam (and third party marketplaces). We have made this change in part due to the new European Union privacy law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), that comes into effect May 25, 2018. We unfortunately have run out of options for keeping Mirage alive. Official servers will remain running until May 31. Players will continue to be able to host their own public or private servers after this point. Thank you for your support and for enjoying Mirage's journey up to now. We look forward to seeing you in our future titles. Our other games, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior, will not be affected. - Torn Banner Studios
Other games that have closed due to looming GDPR include Loadout, Super Monday Night Combat and the EU Ragnarok Online servers.
