Minsc & Boo Exclusive Mini Q & A

It's no secret any more that Minsc and Boo will be returning in the Elemental Evil module for Neverwinter. We had the opportunity to ask a few questions of Lead Content Designer & Loremaster Randy Mosiondz. See what he had to say in this exclusive mini interview.

MMORPG.com: How long ago was it decided to bring Minsc & Boo to Neverwinter?

Randy: Sometime last year it was brought up that as part of the D&D license under Wizards of the Coast, we could incorporate Minsc & Boo into Neverwinter. Of course, we were thrilled! Anyone who’s played the old Baldur’s Gate games typically know and love that duo. Who wouldn’t want to adventure beside Minsc, the mighty ranger from Rasheman, and Boo, his adorable miniature giant space hamster?

MMORPG.com:  What is their connection to the Elemental Evil cults?

Randy: If you’ve read the recent IDW comic featuring Minsc & Boo, you know they’ve just been freed from being a statue in Baldur’s Gate. Now they’ve begun a new set of adventures to thwart evil wherever it can be found! The cults of Elemental Evil are the newest threat to the Sword Coast, and as a ranger who travels the lands it’s easy to see – even for Minsc – the destruction and chaos being caused by the cults. 

“Time to kick Elemental Evil butt!”, as Minsc would say!

MMORPG.com:  In what ways will they assist players in discovering the motives and history of the EE cults?

Randy: When players first learn about the threat of Elemental Evil, the druids of the Emerald Enclave have grown a Tree of Elemental Balance in Protector’s Enclave. There, you meet Minsc, who is ready to thwart the Evil of the Elementary sort… and rescue Boo, who has been taken by the cults for some nefarious purpose! Poor Boo!

MMORPG.com: Will Minsc be a fully voiced character? Who is providing the VO for him?

Randy: Minsc & Boo will be fully voiced! Unfortunately we couldn’t get the original voice actor, but we are trying very hard to match the much-beloved voice of Minsc (and Boo) to the original.

MMORPG.com: Are there plans to have the pair continue on with players in future modules?

Randy: It’s entirely a possibility! Everyone here has had a blast bringing Minsc & Boo into the Elemental Evil module, and we think players are going to love him. “Magic is impressive, but now Minsc leads! Swords for everyone!”
