Aching to play the latest version of Minecraft on PS4? Well, you can do so tomorrow.
A recent PlayStation Blog post delivered the news earlier today. Essentially, Minecraft Bedrock is the unified version of the game, meaning this is the experience you’ll receive across all the consoles,
“All that glorious, unified code means that you’ll be playing the same game as your pals on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10, and mobile!*”
That asterisk indicates later that cross-play requires the other platforms’ version of Minecraft be update 1.14. But crucially, cross-play with PS4 is here, and PS4 players will have access to the Minecraft Marketplace as well.
If you already own Minecraft on PS4, you do not need to buy it again for the Bedrock version. The update will install the next time you launch the game. The update is set to go live tomorrow, December 10 at 11a ET.
