The Middle-earth: Shadow of War site has been updated with a new post from the dev team to let players know that all microtransaction items are being removed from the game. The decision was made in response to player feedback. In addition, players can look forward to "a series of free updates in the coming months".
Developers felt that purchasing Orcs via the Market "risked undermining the heart of our game" and that knowing they were there to buy "reduces immersion in the world and takes away from the challenge of building your personal army and your fortresses". To that end, all Gold and War Chests and the Market itself are being removed permanently from the game. Players will have a limited amount of time to spend any remaining Gold. Once Gold is removed, any leftovers will be converted to in-game items.
