With the final final update for Arkane’s co-op vampire shooter, Redfall, out and the Austin studio now closed, Microsoft has begun issuing refunds for Hero Pass DLC owners.
The Hero Pass DLC was originally set to add two new characters and additional content to the game, but after the title’s disastrous release, it simply never materialized. The Arkane Austin team instead spent much time since the game’s release just over a year ago fixing Redfall and making a series of promised improvements.
Microsoft announced the closure of Arkane Austin, and that seemed the end of Redfall’s production, but the team came together for one last update that added an offline mode and a few other improvements. Still, some kind of make good was promised for those who had the Hero Pass DLC/ deluxe version that included it. This looked to be some sort of equivalent credit.
Now, according to a new report from Eurogamer, it seems that Microsoft is simply choosing to refund the full value of the DLC. This seemingly (for now, at least) applies to those who bought the DLC outright as an upgrade. Those who are waiting for some kind of credit from the physical Bite Back edition are still waiting for something from Bethesda. If that’s you, you may want to contact customer support.
Still, as difficult as a studio closure is, Microsoft seems to at least be keeping its promise to do right by customers, with a refund perhaps even better than some expected.
