The next panther sized update for Marvel’s Avengers finally has a release date. War for Wakanda will introduce players to the secretive nation of Wakanda on August 17th. To entice players both new and old to hop back into the game, Crystal Dynamics is allowing for an All-Access Free Weekend, with an abundance of login rewards to boot.
Back in June, Square Enix revealed a massive expansion, their biggest yet, for Marvel’s Avengers. War for Wakanda teased an exciting new story, and the addition of a new, highly sought-after playable character, Black Panther. The new expansion reportedly has around 9 hours’ worth of story content, new Drop Zones, new Threat Sector Missions, a new Outpost, and new Villains. Along with new content players should also expect cameos from throughout the Marvel Universe, new costumes, and a few surprises, some of which will be revealed at the War Table for Wakanda August 16th.
To coax players back into the game, which has seen an extreme decline since it’s initial launch a year ago, Crystal Dynamics is running an All- Access Free Weekend. Interested players that have never tried the game before can log into the game starting today, July 29th until the early morning of August 2nd. Players on Stadia, Steam and PlayStation need only head to their digital download page to start downloading now. Any player that logs in during this timeframe will also receive the following:
- 4 Times the XP
- 5,000 Fragments
- 1,000 Plasma
- 1,000 Nanites
- 1,000 Nanotubes
- 1,000 Catalyst
- 1,000 Units
- 600 Upgrade Modules
- 500 Uru
- 250 Polychoron
- %50 off all the majority of Marketplace Items
Xbox owners will not be able to participate in this weekend’s All-Access event, but Crystal Dynamics has stated that they are looking into an Xbox All-Access opportunity in the next few months. Could this possibly point to a limited time Xbox Game Pass announcement? No doubt this has been something many fans have been clamoring for, but so far Square Enix has only announced the possibility of an All-Access weekend, so we shouldn’t put the cart before the horse, but Xbox players can certainly hold out hope!
War for Wakanda will release August 17th, just a week before the global launch of a mobile Marvel game, Marvel Future Revolution, which will launch on iOS and Android August 25th. In September, Square Enix will release another Marvel game, Guardians of the Galaxy. There are a lot of super hero games vying for your gaming time, and just like Daredevil, let’s hope they hit the Bullseye.
