After downtime due to catching strays from the US government, the massively popular mobile card game Marvel Snap has supposedly found a new US-based publisher and will focus on in-house development, if a now-deleted tweet is true.
Marvel Snap sought a new publisher after it saw downtime due to it being owned by Nuverse, which in turn was owned by the then-banned Bytedance, owner of TikTok. Supposedly, the US government came to an interim agreement to bring TikTok back up, though Marvel Snap came up some time later.
The tweet announcing the new publisher is now deleted, but it’s hard to imagine there isn’t an inkling of truth to the affair given the instability of the Bytedance situation. (We'll update here if they re-announce things.)
Second Dinner explained in the tweet that it’s “already signed agreements and started the work to bring almost all operational and publishing responsibilities in-house,” and will be supported by Skystone Games, a US-based publisher. Skystone Games’s most recent release is Tyrant’s Realm by Team Tyrant, which was released on January 16 and is inspired by PS1 graphics and Soulsborne games.
Those affected by the ban got generous compensation, including 6 Mystery Series 3 cards, 5000 Season Pass XP, 7150 Credit, 1000 gold, a Mystery Variant and more for all players, and further goodies for those above collection level 500.
