Marvel Rivals' first major update since its December launch has brought four of Marvel's most iconic heroes to the shooter, as well as a new season pass with plenty of cosmetic items to unlock over the course of the next few weeks.

The new season, which kicked off today, brought the Fantastic Four to Rivals, all while the backdrop of a struggle between the Four and Dracula (yes, Dracula is in Marvel if you haven't been keeping up). Also arriving today is Marvel Rivals on Nvidia's GeForce Now service, letting players jump into the action wherever they are using the cloud streaming platform.

Players were certainly excited to jump into the shooter today, as Steam concurrent player numbers hit their highest since the December launch, eclipsing over 508K concurrent players today, according to SteamDB. And this is just on Steam, we don't really know any concurrent player numbers across Xbox or PlayStation platforms, so it's fair to say that the Marvel multiverse is going to be packed with players all weekend.

That's good, because Marvel Rivals also saw its new Season Pass launch today with the release of Season 1. The new Season Pass includes double the content that Season 0 contained, with ten different cosmetic costumes to earn, and more.

Two new maps also launched today, the Sanctum Sanctorum and Midtown, giving players even more battlegrounds to fight over, as well as shaking up the rotation of maps to learn. The Sanctum Sanctorum sees players jump into the "heart of magic," uncovering secrets all while facing off against whatever Dracula is throwing at you, while Midtown sees players fighting over iconic locations in Marvel, such as the Baxter Building and Grand Central Terminal.
