NetEase and Marvel Games have officially announced that Marvel Rivals, a 6v6 Hero Shooter set in the Marvel universe, in development for PC.
Marvel Rivals will undoubtedly draw comparisons to Overwatch, another team-based hero shooter that sees players take on the form of heroes with specific powers, and it's not too far off the mark. Developed by NetEase, the team behind Rivals consists of talent from across the industry, including Call of Duty and Battlefield vets.
The upcoming PvP shooter will pit players in the role of Marvel heroes and villains to battle it out on what developer NetEase calls an "ever-changing battlefield." These battlefields also house destructible environments, allowing Marvel's roster of super characters to let loose fully.
Marvel Rivals developer NetEase didn't announce what type of game modes will be present in the upcoming multiplayer shooter, and the gameplay trailer on offer right now seems to only show an arena-style deathmatch. But already the cast of characters looks to be massive, with heroes and villains such as Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Black Panther, Rocket Racoon, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Storm, Magneto, and much more. In fact, there are 18 characters featured in the trailer alone, and that's not to say that more won't be coming.
Marvel Rivals currently doesn't have a release date - but a closed alpha test is coming this May.
