The free-to-play third-person shooter Marvel Rivals now has a set release date of December 6th, and with it came the news that all characters will be free-to-play at launch.
During Gamescom 2024, an official launch date trailer was revealed, showcasing the multiplayer PvP fighting game in all of its glory with the announcement of both the date and the free-to-player heroes. The screen explicitly says that heroes will be unlocked at launch and “beyond”, meaning that not only is the title itself free to play, but all of the future characters will be too.
Captain America and the Winter Soldier will also be joining the roster upon release, giving us more hero diversity and combinations to try out. With the addition of the new roster comes the new map, Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, which brings us right into the world of The Black Panther.
Just a few weeks ago, the Marvel Rivals playtest took place, allowing us to take the role of our favorite Marvel character and blast enemies to bits. For anyone curious as to whether or not the possible Overwatch killer is worth a try, check out our preview!
