MapleStory has announced that it’ll be launching a beta feature allowing players to trade certain cosmetics on the Steam Marketplace.
The Steam Marketplace won’t be getting or selling any combat items. Instead, according to the official blog, as with many other Steam Marketplace-compatible games, it’ll be for cosmetic items. More specifically, Maplestory players can list any cosmetic items from Surprise Style Boxes dating from January 2017 onwards will.
MapleStory’s integration into the Steam Marketplace will work like any other game’s, with players setting the price for sales and other players opting into buying at that price (with Steam taking a cut). It’ll only be for real-life money, with transactions not affecting any in-game balances.
In order to get involved in the Steam Marketplace, players need to, obviously, link their Steam accounts to MapleStory. Once that’s taken care of, interested players need to own Oswell’s Scissors of Karma, which allows you to move players from the main MapleStory inventory to the Steam inventory. This is the only way that these items will be seen as marketable on a Steam account.
Also worth knowing is that trade will be made available within and between characters on Interactive and Heroic worlds, plus within and between North America and Europe regions/servers.
The feature goes live with the v.258 update, which launches March 19 alongside a Demon Slayer collab event. Too bad Steam Marketplace money only goes towards the wallet, or else players could save for the real-life Maple Island theme park.
