MapleStory 2 Economy Changes Tentatively Targeting March 28th

If all goes according to plan, the March 28th update to MapleStory 2 will include some big changes to the in-game economy, particularly with regard to the Meso Market. "Our focus was to create a place where low-level players can gain some extra mesos for progression, as well as a place where well-equipped players can get Merets for cosmetic purposes". The goal was not to cause harm to in-game balance or give a whiff of "pay to win".

Players will be able to sell mesos to those who use Meso Tokens (premium NX prepaid currency) to purchase them. The seller receives an equivalent number of Blue Merets. Buyers can only make four Meso Token purchases per month up to a maximum of 20,000,000 mesos. According to the team, this relatively low number of mesos eligible for purchase is good for low-level players and can give high-level players the boost to currency to be able to purchase "the perfect gear" without the ability to buy their way to the top.

Additionally, Nexon will continue to ban botters and "illegal meso seller accounts" on a daily basis. To date, over 200 accounts have been issued 15-day bans.
