Magic Online is teaming up with Ultimate Guard to give players a chance to compete in a Vintage Cube draft at MagicCon Vegas, with the chance to go home with one of Magic's most storied cards in its 30-year history.

Magic: the Gathering Online is hosting a tournament for Vintage Cube players to compete for a chance to play, in person, at MagicCon: Las Vegas later this year. The tournament kicks off with qualifiers on July 19th and will run for a few weeks until only eight players remain.

Players will play through multiple rounds of the Vintage Cube Draft, making it through a MagicCon Draft League, then winning their MagicCon 64-Player Draft League once in the tournament, only then to play and secure a spot in the top eight with a 3-0 finish in their Vegas Qualifier round.

The prize up for grabs for even making it to the Vegas tournament is one many Magic: the Gathering players can only dream of: the shot of nabbing rare, out-of-print cards such as the Power 9, namely the utterly broken Black Lotus. Simply making it into that final eight will net players a mighty reward: an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas, including flights and lodgings, as well as a pass to MagicCon itself to compete.

Finally - players will be able to keep the cards they draft, and any cards left undrafted will be awarded to players. This is a $65,000 Vintage Cube literally being given away by Daybreak Games, Wizards of the Coast, and Ultimate Guard, who are putting on the tournament.

While Magic: the Gathering Arena might be flashier and newer, it lacks the vast majority of Magic cards printed, as well as some of the card game's most popular formats, namely the Vintage Cube Draft and Commander. Magic: the Gathering Online offers the gamut of ways to play Magic virtually, and now it's even offering players a chance of winning some of the most iconic pieces of cardboard ever printed. You can check out the full details over at the official website. While the final Vintage Cube has yet to be announced, there are guaranteed cards already revealed, including cards from the Power 9 and cards from older sets that make up the Vintage format.
