In the first developer letter update for Mad World: Age of Darkness, the development team has detailed significant changes to the game's gem system while answering some of the community’s questions. The update, posted on the game's official website, explains the new gem system, which now includes a variety of gem types, each with its own unique set of attributes.

The new gem system is designed to provide some added benefits which includes new gems, and it also differentiates the types of gems as “cheap” gems that are more easily obtainable. Each gem type provides different bonuses, such as increased attack power, defense, or health. Players can equip these gems to their weapons and armor to enhance their characters' abilities, and while the most prized gems will be dropped at lesser rates, players will have more variety in the gems they can slot in their gear. Abyssal Meteors will also be a main objective for players looking to find gems.

Mad World: Age of Darkness officially launched on April 27, 2023, following a two-tiered early access period. The game is a 2D isometric dark MMORPG with a flexible class system and a world full of grotesque monsters. The game's launch was not without its issues, with some players not receiving their confirmation emails and other technical difficulties. However, the development team has been actively working on stabilizing the game and addressing these issues.

Mad World: Age of Darkness is also planning to launch on Steam soon. At this time there is no ETA on when players can expect Jandisoft to release the game via Steam, but as the developers are still actively working on getting the game in shape, with their latest patch handling major bugs and general optimization, they will likely want to get these issues ironed out before releasing on a large platform like Steam.
