Mad World Unveils its Pet System, How to Get and Train Them, and Their Role

Mad World  developer Jandisoft has continued releasing more short previews, including lore, and entries on the revamped website. There’s even a recent devblog on pets in the upcoming grimdark MMORPG.

When it comes to a super dark world full of monsters, mutated dangers, and the task of finding a silver lining in the darkness, you might not think about pets. While pets are common in many MMORPGs the team  explains that pets in the game will be pets that serve as your companions, but they will also serve as a mode of transportation. So, instead of pets and mounts, your pets are your mounts.

You’ll be able to get pets via gold or from purchases of a special egg in the BM shop. Part of your journey, particularly if you want a mount, might be spent raising your pets. The ones you get from the shop eggs don’t have to have an infant stage. Other pets you get will be infants and only reach fully grown status (and ready for mount use) when they’re out of it. You’ll need to complete quests to also let your pets rank up.

Pet types will vary, and so will their appearances, which will depend on rarity. In the blog, there are a couple of examples, with one pet looking like a type of dog or wolf and another looking almost like a mutated blend of dog and bird.  As you raise them, feed and play with your pets, you'll also be able to acquire and build up your pet skills.

There are six skills that pets can learn, and you will be able to have  two equipped on your pet at any time. You won't be able to have the two main damage skills together, but it seems like you can pick any other combination and be able to make changes for gold. The six available skills include those two damage skills, three buffs for both you and your pet, and two enemy debuffs.

For more details, read the full devblog over at Mad World.
