The first closed beta test for Mad World ended this week, and developer Jandisoft is reviewing just how things went and setting course for the next steps.
According to the developer, the team invited 10,000 testers to this closed beta period. Those who applied to test out the game as well as those who had bought Founders Packs and passes were able to take part from September 15th through the 20th. The team added new monsters, new instances, balance changes after the initial Alpha, as well as different quality of life features for this first round of testing.
They've released a brief clip of highlights from the closed beta, including exploration, huge boss battles, and party gameplay. The video only runs 35 seconds, but it shows a little variety of what players were able to test out.
In a press release about the closed beta test, they note that there was a 70% retention rate throughout the test. And 90% of those who responded to a survey question about their overall satisfaction with the game responded positively. It seems like they’re working from a positive place headed to the next test of this 2D cross-platform MMORPG. With a dark, post-apocalyptic world, nightmarish monsters, and grim daily life in the world, the emphasis on hope continues to be something they emphasize, whether that’s in the marketing or in showing scenes of multi-character interactions.
Also in the release is a quote on the next steps from Jandisoft CEO Yun Semin,
“We would like to actively incorporate players’ feedback from this CBT, making sure to bring more complete version for the official release. Pre-registration is also planned for the near future. The details will be revealed through official homepage and community, so please stay tuned.”
