The first closed beta test for Mad World starts today. The 2D dark fantasy, cross-platform, atmospheric MMO has a new “World Map” trailer and new details on what’s new for the beta test.

Last we saw of Mad World, the final alpha ended in May and developer Jandisoft promised a series of changes coming once the game's closed beta test opened. The closed beta is here, along with the list of changes and additions that you'll find if you've been invited to test this time.

This closed beta test doesn't support mobile, so you'll have to be on PC for this one.  Changes in the patch include item improvements, ranging from displaying the name on item drop to clarifying the text and item class.  to start off they added tutorial quests for combat controls and crafting.

While the updated patch notes don't go into much detail, the team did make adjustments to quest detail display, controls, enhancing and dismantling items, the crafting system, pets, and info display on the world map. There are also some new limits and changes to instanced dungeons, with time and life limits, and failure conditions added.

As far as content you can expect they added a number of quests, dungeons, as well as additional tweaks to the contents of multiple dungeons. Some dungeons also got hard modes added.

The opening of this first closed beta test, they added a login reward for each day through September 20th. Closed beta invites were sent out for this first round of testing, but the team is still selling founders packs that have a pass that will guarantee access to all further testing phases and early access before Mad World opens to all.

For more on the beta, and to read the full patch notes for the opening of this first closed beta test, head over to Mad World.
