The third alpha for Mad World is now live today and will run through the end of the month. To kick off the alpha, there is a new update that adds a whole lot of improvements and new content for the test.
Mad World is subtitled Age of Darkness and the cross platform MMORPG does live up to that with its 2D world where chaos reigns long after a mysterious event. The Jandisoft team emphasizes that they have taken great care to make the narrative important so every chapter is a chance to affect more in this large environment full of monsters and demons that you’re trying to have some hope within.
Some of the changes include improvements to the prologue and first couple of quests. The Alpha will be playable from the tutorial up to chapter 5, and once you get through the story of a chapter you will face a boss that is inspired by classic Lovecraft stories including the Cthulu universe.
There are mouse and keyboard improvements, UI changes, work on the companion animal system, along with some bug fixes and stabilization. The Battle Zone is also open for testing and you can enter a specific level to see what’s waiting for you.
In terms of the world, the team has made it so that exploration is more doable this time around. There’s a sense of humor in the desire to make things more fun and approachable too. One of the other changes in the update is “Strengthen[ed] the tension and fun of battle by deleting existing boring skills and adding patterns and gimmicks“.
Clearly, the team is trying to make the game as fun as possible while also preserving death in this artistic cross platform game. In order to test Mad World, you can sign up here. The Alpha test will run through October 31.
